Son of Philip Ferree Sr. and Leya (du Bois) Ferree. Born on 24 Mars 1730 and died on 24 April 1796 in Lancaster County. Brother of Magdalena (Ferree) Buffington, Leah Dubois (Ferree) Becker, Abraham Dubois Ferree, Rachel Ferree, Elizabeth Ferree, Isaac Ferree, Jacob Ferree and Joel Ferree.

He was married to Anna Copeland 1735.1807). They had two childrens, Abraham and Richard.

He was an active gunsmith.

Together with Joel Ferree he made gunpowder for the Continental Army at French's Creek near Kimberton, Chester County.
